The industrial revolution was a time of change. It positively and negatively influenced people lives and their work. The necessity for products were growing, and the industrial revolution allowed people to get the products they needed faster. The changes were mostly caused by the drive for something better. People were constantly chasing new opportunities, creating new things, and getting better jobs.

Allowing document to be seen at an exhibit allow the viewer to take in all view points about the topic. They can see the positives and the negatives, rather than just seeing one side. The documents on each poster allow the visitor to see how life was changing for the people in the Industrial Revolution.

The image of the woman spinning is a positive part of the Industrial Revolution because the spinning wheel was the start to all the other inventions that allowed the industrial revolution to grow and prosper. The Spinning Jenny and factories came from the spinning wheel, and without those inventions, people would not have gotten the things they needed to quickly. The image of the Spinning Jenny and the hand loom are also positive pieces of the Industrial Revolution for the same reason as the spinning wheel. It led to so many things that helped lead to a time full of change. Quickly produced products would not have been possible with out these three inventions.

The chart shows that the population in London is rapidly growing due to the Industrial Revolution. Having facts in an exhibit allows the visitor to use numbers and evidence to understand what was really going on. This could be seen as a negative or positive thing. It is a good thing because London is getting bigger and more people are wanting to get involved with the Industrial Revolution. It is a bad thing because over population could cause health issues, such as the spread of diseases.

The image of the people working in the factory could also be seen as a negative or positive thing. Sometimes, the conditions in factories were not always good, which would be seen as a negative thing. The around of injuries and over crowding was not a positive part of the factory. But, the power loom was an extremely important part of the Industrial Revolution. It helped people get their hands on what they wanted or needed much faster than the spinning wheel did.

The writing could be seen as a good thing because it's saying that the Industrial Revolution gave people the opportunity at a job, and they had something to do for most of the day. On the other hand, some visitors may see it as a bad thing because the age of workers ranged from five years old to those of older age. Also, the industrial revolution did not allow hand work to be done. If you did hand work, the consequence was that the fathers salary had to support the whole family on its own. If that was not enough money, things could get bad very quickly.

We came up with the name "Weaving a New World" because our poster is all about how the spinning wheel, spinning Jenny, factories, and other spinning fools changed London to a new world. Its lets the viewers of the exhibit know that they will learn how spinning and weaving brought up a new world.  While viewing our exhibit, viewers should learn that the Industrial Revolution brought a  positive influence to how people lived, to the demand of goods, and helped form our society today, there were also some negative aspects that affected their lives as well.

One museum exhibit I visited was called "From Country Sides to the Big City." Here, I learned how small country sides were evolving into big cities. Railroads were being built which allowed more travel to happen. People were starting to use rivers for transportation. Coal and iron were becoming a vital source behind the production of the big cities and the product production was increasing.

Another exhibit I saw was "Not So Great Britain". At this exhibit, I learned that there were negative effects to the Industrial Revolution. People were extremely independent on technology. Pollution in rivers was increasing and the high population in the factories and poor housing caused slums. I also found out that this title was slightly misleading because the exhibit also mentions a few positive points about the revolution.

The next exhibit I visited was "Devastation of Child Labor". I learned that many young children were working in the factories. Poor parents had no choice but to send this children to work in order to help take care of the family. About 50% of children in the cotton factories were under the age of 10 at one point.

The final exhibit I visited was named. "Products of a Dark Time." I immediately could tell that something about the Industrial Revolution was not good.  I learned that cotton was the product that  came from the work of a slave. Cotton was a huge part of the Industrial Revolution for trading. Unfortunately, the United States was involved with this.

The museum curator project taught me a lot about the Industrial Revolution. I learned about the positive and negative affects that came from this time period. I found this assignment to be a creative way to learn about an important topic.
